In a dramatic escalation of hostilities, Iran has launched a large-scale barrage of ballistic missiles and drones targeting key locations inside Israel, intensifying an already volatile conflict.
The Israeli military confirmed the assault, stating that “another volley of dozens of missiles was launched towards the State of Israel,” as air raid sirens blared across the country. The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted many of the incoming threats, though several managed to strike populated areas.
Explosions and fires have been reported in multiple locations, including near the Israeli Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. Local media sources have indicated that rockets hit at least seven sites in central Israel, though full damage assessments are still underway.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility, declaring the operation a “crushing and precise response” to recent Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and the targeted killing of senior IRGC commanders. The attack was reportedly authorized by Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
